Insomnia causes. Reasons of long-term insomnia

Physiologic conditions are the main reason why chronic insomnia may happen. These conditions include the following: schizophrenia, mania, stress, anxiety and depression. Sometimes sleeping problems are the signs, indicating that a person suffers from depression. A lot of people experience insomnia, while they are in the acute stage of mental illness. Nevertheless, the leading insomnia causes are anxiety and depression.

Physiologic factors, causing insomnia, include circadian rhythm disorders (disturbance of the biological clock), various medical conditions and imbalance between sleep and wake. Medical conditions, leading to sleeping troubles, are manifold: heart diseases, pains in the chest, chronic pains, congestive heart failure, nocturnal asthma, chronic fatigue, obstructive sleep apnea, degenerative illnesses (including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, etc), brain trauma, strokes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, brain tumors and acid reflux disease.
